Bevor David zu MarkLogic kam, gründete und leitete er bei Microsoft das SharePoint Online-Team und leistete damit einen Beitrag zur Entwicklung der Online-Services-Strategie des Unternehmens. Neben der Leitung von SharePoint Online war David in zahlreichen weiteren Positionen bei Microsoft und anderen Unternehmen beschäftigt und an der Entwicklung von Enterprise-Serverprodukten und -anwendungen beteiligt.

David hat einen Bachelor-Abschluss in Systemdesign sowie einen Abschluss in Psychologie von der University of Waterloo und einen MBA-Abschluss von der University of Washington Foster School of Business.
